Welcome screen

Welcome screen & getting started

Launching Omniscope by double-clicking the desktop icon (or from the All Program menu in Windows) opens the Welcome screen.

Two main Omniscope 'workspace' icons, DataManager and DataExplorer.

Along the top.

Clicking on one opens an empty file with the relevant workspace visible, so you can get started importing existing data, or just typing data directly into Omniscope.

Four useful groups of features

Below the workspace icons.

  1. Tasks on the left containing links to common data import commands such as opening files and connecting to databases.
  2. The middle section has shortcuts to recently opened files (many more can be accessed from the 'More...' submenu).
  3. Many demo files links are designed to show a wide range of the features in Omniscope (again, many more demos in the 'More...' submenu).
  4. On the right are a group of resources available to users providing easy access to tutorials, maps, updates, etc.

Language menu

At the bottom.

Allows users to switch among the currently supported Omniscope languages (also available from the Settings menu). You will just need to restart Omniscope.

Omniscope is capable of supporting potentially all the languages of the world. To see the available languages, go to the Settings > Language menu, also shown on the Welcome screen. Some of the languages may not yet be completely edited for new features and may have auto-translated phrases.

Anyone can contribute new and improved translations. You can make minor corrections, create country-specific language variants and use your local translation file, or add an entirely new language, using only Omniscope. You can do this privately or you can send your translations/edits back to Visokio for inclusion.

We offer Translators free 3-month Omniscope Desktop license keys, extendable by another 3 months following successful translation of the current release candidate. If you would like to participate in our Translators/Editors program, please contact us.

Zoom slider

At the bottom, next to the language menu.

It allows you to change the size of the buttons and fonts to suit higher or lower resolution screens. You can always revert to default using the little down arrow next to the slider.
